What's on at Jumping Mechelen 2019

PRESS RELEASE | 13/08/2019

Even though at the moment horse lovers are enjoying sunny hacks and exciting outdoor competitions, the Jumping Mechelen team is already working hard to create an unforgettable equestrian holiday season. The program for the 2019 edition has now been fully completed. It has been known for some time that the auction is making a comeback, but the organization also has some other delights in store for you...

World Cups First things first: of course the three FEI World Cups will be returning to Malines. Between Christmas and New Year, the crème de la crème of the international Show Jumping, Dressage and Driving competition will go to great lengths to be victorious at the Nekkerhal. In addition, the FEI once again allocated the final of the Jumping Ponies’ Trophy to Flanders Christmas Horse Show. Peter Bollen, sports director Jumping Mechelen: "The FEI Jumping Ponies’ Trophy can be considered as the World Cup for pony riders. It is a great honor to be hosting the apotheosis of this extremely tough competitions series."

Christmas & New Year Arena As tradition requires, Jumping Mechelen takes place between Christmas and New Year, so this year you are welcome to join the party from Thursday 26 to Monday 30 December. The show is known for its cozy and vibrant holiday atmosphere, but this year the organization is kicking  it up a notch. Forget about the A and B Arena. From this year onwards they will be referred to as the Christmas (A) and the New Year Arena (B). They will not only serve as the battlefield of the top riders but also our local riders get the opportunity to shine at Jumping Mechelen. They can qualify for the JM Indoor Masters (via VLP & LRV) and the KBC Gouden Teugel (via LRV).

Keeping with tradition, on Thursday the children will be kicking off the event. During the morning and the afternoon they can enjoy the JM Kids Day which features the extremely famous band “Like Me”!!! Our youngest visitors will also get to enjoy various equestrian shows, pony competitions and demos. In the evening the Belgian Indoor Championships will be held at the Christmas Arena. Afterwards our audience is in for another treat with the Eventer Challenge competition! With the eventing riders the atmosphere is always guaranteed!

Friday will be especially interesting for breeders. In the New Year Arena they will get the chance to show of their products during the loose jumping finals for 2-year-old horses. Maybe you can even take one of the talents home with you by participating in the auction that takes place directly after the competition. In the Christmas Arena it is all eyes on the approved breeding stallions. In the afternoon the 6- and 7-year-olds will be competing. Afterwards the older stallions will be showing off and trying to win the Leon Melchior Sires of the World. Last but not least, we will conclude our Friday program with the BMW Masters.

Dressage lovers should definitely join us in the Nekkerhal for the early Saturday and Sunday sessions. On both days we have got a CDIW Intermediaire I and – off course – the FEI Dressage World Cup Grand Prix and GP Freestyle lined up for them. On Saturday, the audience can also enjoy two 5* jumping competitions.

On Sunday, the FEI World Cup Driving (Warm Up), the Grand Prix Sport Vlaanderen (Jumping) and the unforgettable Fancy Dress competition will complete the program.

Monday Jumping Mechelen 2019 will conclude with a big bang as 3 international top events take place in the Christmas Arena: the finals of the FEI Jumping Ponies ’Trophy, the FEI World Cup Driving and the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping.
